Simply the BEST deli, including Philadelphia downtown, Chicago, and NYC. Worth the wait for a table!
Been going here with family for years and it's always a must visit when I'm back in town-- There's a wait because it's worth it. The pickle bar has always been my favorite. The family always gets one of the fish platters & toasted everything bagels and always have leftovers.
Awesome sammiches!! PICKLE BAR!!! Great service at an authentic deli. What else do you need?!
Great place but I haven't been there in a while due to moving out of state. Large portions, pickle bar and friendly staff.
Pumpernicks serves up the best corn beef sandwiches! (I asked for extra cole slaw and it was heavenly!). They even have a pickle bar. Best of all, the staff is kind, caring and helpful. It's busy, so go early!
4/13/24 first time at pumpernick's. My sister recommended it bcs they go there all the time. I'm not much of a deli person but their menu was quite extensive- so that was a plus. The server we had was not particularly friendly. It was a very busy day there. That's probably the only thing that wasn't up to par to me. I liked the pickle bar and almost every pickle I tasted. I opted for the key west salad with shrimp in an Asian glaze and sesame dressing. It was good- it had mandarin oranges, black olives, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and roasted peppers. I would have enjoyed the salad a lot more if the peppers were red roasted- it would've made the salad more colorful. It was good. We ordered the cheese blintzes- to go-they were excellent. Choice of cherry blueberry (that's extra) or Sour-cream, or applesauce. They were delicious and so tasty I didn't need to put on any toppings. The cheese was gently sweetened. These were magnificent!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! I would go there JUST for this!! I felt that the prices were pretty high. I can see why though it's a massive building thru have to pay for. Not to mention the food costs through the roof. We know who we can thank for that- right? For us 3 it was 88$ for lunch. Latkes were over 10$ for 3, we ordered 2 salads & they were roughly 19$, (I see why though- shrimp- large very tasty shrimp) one sandwich, 2 sodas, and the blintzes were over 15$ (they up charge you if you want fruit topping). The prices wouldn't keep me away though. I would definitely go back if I were in the area.
Pumpernick's Deli is a true gem that has stood the test of time, celebrating 40 years of being a family-owned haven for deli enthusiasts. The aroma of their homemade Hot Corned Beef, Roast Brisket, and Pastrami wafts through the air, promising a culinary experience like no other. The meticulous steaming process and hot-to-order slicing elevate these classics to perfection. The six hearty soups, crowned by their award-winning giant matzoh balls, are a testament to the dedication poured into the kitchen daily. The cabbage and beef borscht, with its rich and savory broth, feels like a warm embrace for the soul - a dish meant to be savored, leaving you with a profound sense of satisfaction. For me, it tastes like home. Pumpernick's takes pickles seriously, boasting a bar with an impressive array of dills, sours, peppers, cucumber salad, and their homemade sweet cabbage - all complimentary, adding a delightful touch to your meal. This deli isn't just a restaurant; it's a tradition, and every bite reflects the passion and pride that comes with four decades of serving up genuine deli delights. Service is thoughtful and efficient! Be prepared for a wait, also know that it's worth it.
A Jewish Deli that hurdles the bar of average. Let's start with the fact that you have a pickle bar at your disposal consisting of: Half Sour Pickles, Regular Pickles, bread and butter pickles, pickled tomatoes, Cole slaw, relish, banana peppers, and red pickles. Still with me? Knowledge drop alert: Smoked Salmon and Kippered Salmon are my first choices when it comes to breakfast fishes not too far ahead of Lox. Here's the knowledge drop, Kippered Salmon is a type of smoked salmon that is cured before it is smoked. The curing process allow it to become even juicier and adds a more complex level of flavor to it. At Pumpernick's Deli their menu states they only have an option of Kippered Salmon. Fine by me as it is even juicer than smoked salmon. That is what I went with today and they give you a nice portion of salmon, so you are able to spread the appropriate proportion of fish on both sides of your bagel. Everything bagel - special mention on the Everything Bagels as typically the top half of bagels are where most of the poppy seeds, onion, garlic, are located however the Everything bagel had an abundance of both halves of the bagel something I personally rarely have seen. Lox Omelet - The girlfriend always and I mean always orders this. We were both blown away as it legit was better than the Lox omelet at Ben and Irv's. The main difference being when we order the Lox omelet at Ben and Irv's it tends to be cooked a tad too long, but this order came out fresh and, on the table, before five minutes were up after putting in our order. It is very hard to top Pumpernick's Deli and btw the Jewish Rye Bread here is very good as well if you're looking for some lunchmeat and rye to build a sandwich can't go wrong with a to go order from the Delicatessen. As always people SYOY!!!
